Obama and Palestinian Immigrants

Obama Signs Presidential Determination Allowing Palestinians Loyal to Hamas to Resettle In US

President Barack Obama has signed an executive order presidential determination allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States. Sure, what can go wrong when we allow hundreds of thousands of people who have been, "marinated" in a "sick death cult," who voted for Hamas, and 55% of whom support suicide bombings live here and at the American taxpayers' expense: By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3million in migration assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza.

The "presidential determination" which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4.

President Obama's decision, according to the Register, was necessitated by "the urgent refugee and migration needs" of the "victims."

Few on Capitol Hill took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

Let's review some of Barack Obama's most recent actions since he was inaugurated a little more than two weeks ago:

* His first call to any head of state as president was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.

* His first one on one interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.

* He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted.

* He ordered all overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.

* He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and 9/11.

* Today we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to and live in the US at American taxpayer expense.

Anyone else seeing a pattern here?

The above email is one that apparently went out early year. I don't recall seeing it, but then again, I delete most stuff that appears to be slander or simply unhelpful. By the way, the above email is completely false as evidenced by Truth or Fiction (see link at the bottom). The reason I am bringing this up is because I overheard someone talking about as being presented as fact at a recent Kay Arthur conference, even referencing the refugees as sleeper cells and terrorists. Can anyone verify for me if Kay Arthur is passing this information off as fact? I've been recommending for people to stay away from Kay Arthur for several years now, but if she is passing off false, slanderous information as fact, perhaps it's time for her to retire, instead of becoming part of the problem of the "religious right."

Homeschool Progress Report 2009

So, this year's progress report is out. At least one thing I would like to note. In the report, Figure 7 on page 4 shows the "percentile scores based on money spent on education per child." Now, the argument is often made by the public education proponents that to offer school vouchers/tax credits for private school and/or homeschool would be to take money out of the public school system. But, based on this report, and average of $9,963 is spent per public school student and the scores are only at about 50%. Whereas, a homeschool family spends an average of about $600 per student. Now, do you not think that the government could save about $9,300 for offering tax credits? Homeschool families do pay those taxes as it is. Should they not get some of it back? I've already mentioned how Dwight Drake apparently doesn't think that homeschoolers and private schoolers are educated. This report shows quite otherwise. Some politicians need to get a clue.

Graham to birthers: ‘Knock this crap off’

I agree. Conspiracy theorists need to knock it off and get down to real business. Such as stop tax-payer funded abortion that will be provided in the health care reform bills, defend DOMA, oppose massive spending, etc.

Sen. Jim DeMint: Washington politicians' most titanic lie | Washington Examiner

If you watch C-Span for a while, you’re sure to hear a politician or pundit criticizing some idea by comparing it to “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.”  It’s a vivid illustration of the short-sightedness and futility of so much of what Washington does superficially to improve failed programs.

In Washington today, however, we are witnessing an unprecedented extension of the Titanic analogy: Both parties and both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue are focused on rearranging our deck chairs while there is still time to steer around the iceberg, if only someone would grab the wheel.

This week, the Associated Press reported that for the next two years, the Social Security system will pay out more money than it takes in.  The story contained the following bizarre formulation:

“The deficits — $10 billion in 2010 and $9 billion in 2011 — won't affect payments to retirees because Social Security has accumulated surpluses from previous years totaling $2.5 trillion. But they will add to the overall federal deficit.”

How can it be that Social Security has $2.5 trillion in reserves, but that a mere $19 billion shortfall will add to the federal deficit?  Because the “surpluses” do not exist.  The Trust Fund is empty and has been for years.  There is no money in there; just IOU’s.  That’s why the 2010-2011 shortfalls will add to the deficit – we don’t have the money.

The very concept of a Social Security Trust Fund is not so much a myth as it is a lie. For decades, Congress has raided the Trust Fund to pay for other government programs and used accounting gimmicks to hide the true size of the deficit.

SC LEADER BUCKS FAILED EDUCRAT SYSTEM TO CREATE SUCCESS FOR STUDENTS

Despite South Carolina’s abysmal public education system, there is still a story that pops up every now again that offers some hope.

On Tuesday, it was news that Wando High School Principal Lucy Beckham had been named the 2010 National High School Principal of the Year. That’s no small feat.

Beckham became a candidate for the national honor after being named the 2009 Secondary Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. She was among three national finalists for the national award that honors secondary school principals who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students and made exemplary contributions to the profession. Sheila Kahrs, principal of Haymon-Morris Middle School in Winder, Ga., was named the national middle school winner.

Beckham will be recognized during an awards banquet next month in Washington, D.C., and she will receive $5,000 for school-based projects or training for staff.

Beckham has been an educator for more than 33 years, an administrator for 15 years and principal of Wando, the state’s largest high school, since 1998. She oversaw the school’s move into its new building in 2004, and she helped create four career-related schools of study and a ninth-grade academy to ensure students have more opportunities for personal connections. Students meet weekly with faculty advisers and, as upperclassmen, with an administrator or counselor who monitors and supports them through graduation.

Under Beckham’s leadership, Wando has been the recipient of numerous statewide and national accolades. The school was named one of the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report, its band was recognized as best in the nation, and both its newspaper and culinary arts programs have garnered national honors. Shows that no matter how much money you want to throw at a program, it's the people that matter, not the money.

Michael Moore, Mammon, and Me

While in Detroit this past Saturday, I saw an advertisement for the new Michael Moore movie denouncing capitalism and the free market system. It irritated me, and then, the more I thought about it, it irritated me more, in ways I didn’t expect.

Moore is, first of all, no relation, and, second, not new to iconoclastic filmmaking. His previous cinematic offerings have taken on everything from corporate greed in the car industry to gun control and school shootings to 9/11 conspiracy theories.

What amazes me is not that Michael Moore doesn’t like capitalism. It’s that he’s trying to make money off of his denunciation of capitalism, and using advertising to try to do so. It’s almost as though the filmmaker is winking at us, kind of like the Borat character, bilking us for our cash and laughing at our gullibility for giving it to him.

With each new movie that Moore does, he becomes increasingly irrelevant.
